The general scholarship season (November-February)

Senior:  

Start collecting scholarship applications
   · From stores, internet and high school counseling center
   · Key Point – THESE ARE SCHOLARSHIPS OUTSIDE OF THE UNIVERSITY      SCHOLARSHIPS
   · University Scholarships come out the first week of school (August)

Begin writing your essays write away
   · You want as much time Possible to edit your work
   · Keep in mind you’ll ask others to review your essays for constructive criticism

Collect your letters of recommendation
   · As you near the end of November, you should be starting to get recommendations
     back from your teachers, principals and others you’ve asked.

Junior:

Get results from ACT/SAT tests
   · Getting them back during November will allow you one more semester to take the
      test.

Sophomore:

Start planning to take ACT/SAT tests for the first time.
   · The early you take these tests the more time you have to bring your scores up
   · REMEMBER: SCHOLARSHIP COMPANIES ONLY LOOK AT THE HIGHEST TEST          SCORES

Freshman:  

Focus on your studies
   · You don’t have to worry too much about scholarships just yet.
   · But begin thinking about what college you want to attend
   · Also begin thinking about what you may want to major in
